A bold and energetic work in 3 movements; ca. 15 minutes in duration.
Commissioned by the Washington Island Music Festival, in celebration of the 35th anniversary of WIMF. Premiered by Christian Ellenwood, cellist Scott Tisdel, and pianist Stefanie Jacob at the Washington Island Music Festival on August 3, 2026.
Movement 1—scintillations: inspired by the diamond-sparkle-dance of morning light on the water, and by the brilliant light seen in the eyes of those held dearest.
Movement 2—depths: the emotional centerpiece of the work. Tender, passionate, intense.
Movement 3—blue swell: rocking, rolling, pitching, and propelling forward. A celebration of waves of water, life, light, sound, and emotion—as well as the blues and other streams of American music.
